Bullying

Sometime ago a father called me to come and find out why his some doesn't want to go to school again. The boy was insisting that his dad should change his school. The dad asked him several times why he wants to go to another school but the boy refuse to say anything. So the man called me to see if I can get any information from the boy since am close to him. It was when I came that the boy opened up that he was being bullied at school by some teenagers at school. He was also told not to tell anyone else they will kill him. So for months this teenager has been going through physical and psychological torment.

What is Bullying? Bullying is aggression persistently directed against a particular target, or victim, typically one who is weak, vulnerable, and defenseless.
According to recent studies more than 20% of all pupils have been victims of bullying or have bullied classmates! In an Australian study of 3918 school-children aged 12, 14 and 16, 13% of the kids were bullied, up to 22% were bullies and were also victims of bullying, and only 42% were neither bullied or bullied classmates or other kids.
There are lots of children who are being bullied at school by other kids and threatened not to tell anyone or will be severely dealt with.

TYPES OF BULLYING
1.PHYSICAL BULLYING:  Where a child is physically attacked. The human body and even weapons may be used, to cause physical harm.
2.CYBER BULLYING: Cyber bullying is a type of harassment made over the internet and targets kids and youngster but it can happen to grown men and women as well. It's called as such because it involves the use of cyber space to intimidate and hassle. This includes stalking and identity theft which is considered a global threat. It could happen with the use of cellular and hand-held mechanisms for instance a computer and cellular phones and even games like the usage of play station and Nintendo machines. Because there's simple access to internet games and social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter; the kids are vulnerable to them especially with chat and digital camera applications. The sorrowful news is that, this isn't controlled by the state regulations. Examples of cyber bullying are electronic devices such as mobile phones, instant messaging and the internet.

VERBAL BULLYING: This includes name calling, verbal abuse, cursing, mocking etc.
Statistics has it that  one in three children in the United States has been bullied by someone they know. One in three has been bullied while playing a game. One in two has been bullied by cell phone and almost half have been bullied on the social networking site, Face book.
If your child comes home looking frightened and acting strange. As a parent you need to ask the kid some question. But you must have a good relationship with the child for him or her to open up to you.
